Take the crusades for example, many thought they were doing the right thing by trying to take over the Holy Lands, but they were imbecile and ended up killing hundreds of thousands of people. At first they let Christian pilgrims visit the holy place(Harrison 36). only when Muslim Turks invaded the region, they began to blast the pilgrims(Harrison 36). The Pope wanted to take affirm the Holy Lands, and undertake rid of the Muslims. Some 30,000 soldiers, mostly Franks and Germans, participated in the First Crusades(Golson 94). The Crusades cut across the Anatolia Peninsula and took Antioch in 1096(Golson 94).
